50 Rules to Live By
Everybody needs to have a list of rules to live by. If you don’t happen to have one, feel free to borrow what you like from mine. I borrowed some, but most are mine. Listing my beliefs changed me. I hope it changes you.
- Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good.
- When in doubt, just take the next small step.
- When choosing which path to take, pray for direction.
- Be a daychanger. Make a difference everyday.
- Learn to live on less than you earn.
- You are not merely your job.
- Your job will not take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.
- Pay off your credit cards every month.
- You don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
- Grieve with others. Send a sympathy card or make a call.
- Put your change in a jar. It adds up.
- Chocolate and pets aren’t everyone’s thing, and that’s OK.
- Reconcile while your enemy is still living.
- Other people’s success doesn’t reflect your abilities. Relax.
- If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn’t be in it.
- A cleansing breath calms the mind.
- Hoarding is fear behavior. Share your excess.
- Whatever doesn’t kill you really does make you stronger.
- Sixty-five is a great time to start your next great adventure.
- Determination can accomplish anything. Be tenacious.
- Splurge on yourself today. Burn the candles, use the nice pillow cases, wear the fancy lingerie.
- Over prepare, then relax and take life as it comes.
- Be zany. Don’t wait for old age to wear purple.
- The most important sex organ is the brain.
- Plan for the future, live in the moment, learn from the past.
- Frame every so-called disaster with these words ”In five years, will this matter?”
- Always choose life.
- Forgive everyone everything. And tell them so.
- Spend your life developing your talents.
- Time heals almost everything. Give it time.
- However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
- You “arrive” as you discover your authentic self.
- Believe in miracles.
- Pay attention to the grace moments. Thank God for them.
- Growing old beats the alternative — dying young.
- Your children get only one childhood.
- All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
- Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
- If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else’s, we’d grab ours back.
- Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
- Recognize excellence every time you experience it.
- No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
- Nobody cares if you’re fast. Be thorough.
- Cast your pebbles so they make a ripple in the pond.
- Write something every day.
- Television and internet aren’t real life.
- Help someone on their journey.
- Keep your living space clean and organized.
- Allow time for meditation and prayer.
- Everyone does the best they can do.
